CONDUCTORS of the Moorish March ‘CHIMO’.
from 1987 to the present day
Since August 1987, the year in which José Mª Ferrero Pastor passed away, the bands that participate in the Moors and Christians festivities in Ontinyent have performed the Moorish march Chimo together as a tribute to its author under the baton of a guest conductor. This performance takes place in the Plaza Mayor at the end of the entrance of the bands, bringing together all the main ingredients for this event, on the one hand the nearly 800 musicians, on the other hand an audience that fills the square and is eager to experience the show, and finally a square that is decorated and prepared as if it were the best auditorium we were talking about. Many conductors have been able to enjoy this moment and have declared on many occasions to feel ‘unique sensations’ experienced that day.
