A life dedicated to music
Mestre Ferrero received many tokens of recognition throughout his life. But it was undoubtedly after his death that a multitude of events were organised to highlight his figure both musically and as a person. There were quite a few entities and official organisations that organised events in his memory. The list below serves as a sample of all of them.

The Ontinyent Festival Society awards him the medal for festive merit.

Tribute to Jose Mª Ferrero organized by the Ontinyent Festival Society and sponsored by the Ontinyent City Council.

Moroccan television joined in the tribute to Ferrero.

Year 1972
Recognition ceremony by the City Council of Ontinyent for his symphonic poem “Els Morocristians d´Ontinyent”.

On July 30, the City Council of Ontinyent names him “Favorite Son”.

On August 16, the Ontinyent Festival Society awards him the gold badge.

In August, during this month, a commission for homage was created at the request of the City Council, which was made up of representatives of the City Council, the Sociedad de Festeros, the Unión Artística Musical, the UNDEF (Union of Festive Entities) and the family. Among other initiatives, the commission would produce the publication of the scores of the works of Mestre Ferrero that are still in manuscript and the creation of an International competition for the composition of symphonic-festive music that bears his name.

February. The UNDEF names him "Festero de Honor" with a gold insignia and adds "Mestre Ferrero" to its musical archives.

March. In the town of Caudete, a posthumous tribute is paid to him by the City Council, which is joined by UNDEF.

April. The Ontinyent City Council decides to name an upcoming city park after him.

August. The 25th anniversary of the Moorish march Chimo is commemorated and homage is paid to him at the end of the entrance of the bands of Ontinyent, perpetuating and becoming the act of the festivities which undoubtedly marks the beginning of the festivities.

The biographical book of Mestre Ferrero written by D. Antonio Lacueva is presented.

Year 1991
The Society of Moors and Christians of San Blas (Alicante) pays tribute to him for his contribution to festive music.

Year 1992
The Unión de Festejos San Bonifacio Martir de Petrer pays posthumous tribute to him.

Year 1993
In August the Parc Mestre Ferrero is inaugurated in Ontinyent.

Year 1996
The Sociedad Unión Artística Musical de Ontinyent awarded him the golden insignia of the society and gave his name to the School of Music.

The festival committee of the Moors and Christians of Mutxamel pays tribute to him as part of the 5th festival of festive music.

Year 2004
The Sociedad Unión Artística Musical de Ontinyent creates the ‘Jose Maria Ferrero’ awards to recognise the contribution of people, societies and institutions that work for the benefit of the social welfare of the city.

May. Nearing the 20th anniversary of his death, the Sauditas comparsa ( troupe ) and the Sociedad de Festeros, with the sponsorship of the Ontinyent City Council, promote and present the creation of a sculptural group to be placed in the park that bears his name.

August. The city where he was born pays tribute to him once again with the inauguration of the sculptural group in the Parc Mestre Ferrero.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of his death, various public and private entities are promoting different acts that once again praise the figure of Mestre Ferrero.

Year 2014
Various commemorative acts in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Moorish march Chimo. Naming of Chimo as the Official Hymn of the Moors and Christians Festivities of Ontinyent.

Year 2015
On 1st July 2015, the Academy of Valencian Music posthumously named Jose Maria Ferrero Pastor, Insigne de la Música Valenciana.

Year 2020
In 2020, the Sociedad Unión Artística Musical de Ontinyent, promotes the creation of a memorial MESTRE FERRERO in which the music of Jose María Ferrero would be remembered, with the intention of performing this concert every year at the end of July.
