  • MORELL- SEGUI1948

In 1948, during his stay in Valencia for his military service, he composed the pasodoble-marcha Morell-Seguí dedicated to his parents. The title corresponds to their second surnames and was premiered on 18 July of the same year.

  • RICROFRAN1948

This pasodoble composed in 1948 was dedicated to his closest friends who were doing their military service with him in Valencia. Its title Ricofran, is an acronym of their surnames: RIco, COlomer and FRANcés. It was premiered on 8 December 1948 as part of the series of concerts that the band performed on the occasion of the feast of the local patron saint.

  • MONTCABRER1948

During his period of military service he composed, together with his friend Juan Jover Fullana, a musician from Muro, organist and director for many years of the Agres band, the pasodoble Montcabrer. It was premiered by the band Unión Musical de Muro, to which it is dedicated.

  • FONTANARES1949

This pasodoble was composed in 1949 on his return from military service, when he joined the Ontinyent band as an auxiliary, giving solfège classes to the students, before taking over the direction of the band in 1950.

  • TOMÁS PASCUAL1952

In 1952 he composed two pasodobles: Tomás Pascual and Jose María Belda.

Tomás Pascual is dedicated to the family from Muro who took in Jose Mª Ferrero when he went with the Ontinyent band to their Moors and Christians festivities. The title of the pasodoble corresponds to the surnames of the married couple formed by José Tomás and Milagros Pascual. It was premiered by the band Unión Musical de Muro.

  • REINA DE FIESTAS 19601960

The year 1960, mainly due to the celebration of the first centenary of the Moors and Christians of Ontinyent, was the author's most prolific year, with three pasodobles and a Moorish march.

The pasodoble Reina de fiestas 1960 is one of them, and it is dedicated to Mª Amor Tortosa, the first of the 32 queens of fiestas that the Moors and Christians of Ontinyent had until 1991. This pasodoble was used throughout all those years to accompany the queens with their courts of honour to the festival events, and to parade at the entrance. Jose Mª Ferrero included this pasodoble and the pasodoble Daniel Juan together with the Moorish marches El Berberisch and UMDA in the second single he recorded in 1961.

  • PRIMER CENTENARIO1960

1960 was the author's most prolific year, with three pasodobles and a Moorish march.

The pasodoble Primer Centenario is one of them, dedicated to his town on the occasion of the first centenary of the Moors and Christians festivities of Ontinyent. It was premiered in front of the town hall in the presence of the local authorities on 8 December.

  • DANIEL JUAN1960

The pasodoble Daniel Juan is one of the three pasodobles composed in 1960. He composed it in July in memory of his son who was born and died that same year.

This is a great pasodoble dianero. More than its brilliant character, what stands out in it is the stamp of sentimental melody that the author stamped on it, putting in it all the affection of an intimate and particular feeling.

Jose Mª Ferrero included this pasodoble and the pasodoble Reina de fiestas 1960 together with the Moorish marches El Berberisch and UMDA in the second single he recorded in 1961.

  • CERVEZAS EL TURIA1967

The Ministry of the Navy organised a competition of military marches with the aim of establishing the winning march as its anthem. Jose Mª Ferrero presented a march under the slogan El mar, but the prize was declared void and the march was acquired by a brand of beer, becoming known as Cervezas el Turia.

  • BRISAS DEL CLARIANO1969

In 1969 he composed the pasodoble Brisas del Clariano, one of the few without a dedication.

Within the Moors and Christians festivities, the pasodoble dianero ‘sentat’ has a great influence, and this composition offers all the characteristics of this genre.

  • IMPOSIBLES1976

That's impossible!’, was the phrase most often heard that summer afternoon when some friends of the Mestre who belonged to the Berberiscos comparsa ( troupe ) went to help him carry a piano up to the attic of his house, when they saw the hole through which it had to be introduced. The effort of those friends (el Pando, Manchono, Mollá, el Sosio, Pepe Serna, Donat, Rata-plam, Manolo Gisbert, Gonzalo Gandía) was well worth that some years later the first pasodoble composed by Jose Mª Ferrero was dedicated to them. The title Imposibles (Impossible) was later chosen by them to name their squadron.

This pasodoble won the second prize in the contest of composition of festive music of Alcoy on October 25th 1976.

  • BERENGUERS1982

One of the two works composed in 1982 was the pasodoble Berenguers, dedicated to the comparsa ( troupe ) of the same name from Agullent on the occasion of its silver jubilee, and was premiered by the Agrupación Musical de Agullent in a concert held on 5 September of the same year.

The counterpoints are inspired by the Hymn of Agullent, whose author is Father Pérez-Jorge.

  • DOS PARELLES1983

His two close friends, Luis Serna and Hipólito Navarro, members of the UNDEF, after having heard the funeral march Cristo de la Agonía composed in 1982, were always asking Jose Mª Ferrero to compose one for them for the day of their funeral. The Mestre fulfilled the request but with a variation: he dedicated the pasodoble Dos Parelles to them and their respective wives. Jose Mª Ferrero wanted to praise these four characters who were ‘Dos Parelles’ who carried the festive banner wherever they went, dedicating a beautiful pasodoble to them which was premiered as an encore at the Santa Cecilia concert held on 27 November 1983.

  • PEPE BRUSA 1984

José Donat was the president of the Sociedad Unión Artística Musical in 1984, a band to which he had belonged as a musician in his youth alongside the composer. At the same time, together with Antonio Lacueva among others, they had founded the Mudéjares de Ontinyent comparsa years before. This friendship and the relationship between the band and the comparsa during those years led the Mestre to compose a pasodoble dedicated to the president entitled Pepe Brusa in 1984, as well as a Moorish march for the comparsa, which he entitled Mudéjares de Ontinyent.

  • RECUERDO AL PASADO1985

In 1985 he composed the pasodoble Recuerdo al Pasado, with the intention of presenting it to the competition, but he didn't make it in time. In this pasodoble he tried to collect old styles of ‘sentat’ pasodoble. He premiered it in the Mig Any concert held in February 1986. Later, as a premonition, he chose it again as the pasodoble for what would be his last entrance of the brass bands in the Moors and Christians festivities of 1986.
